Nutrients don’t just belong on your plate, they also belong on your face. Because, just as healthy food will nourish your skin from within, nutrient-rich ingredients in your skincare will nourish your skin from the outside in. It’s why all Willowberry products are formulated with a focus on what we call ‘nutritious natural’ ingredients. Being so rich in nutrients is, we believe, what makes Willowberry so good for your skin and how it achieves such visible complexion-boosting benefits. Having researched, sourced and trialled the very best natural ingredients, we are proud of the skin-loving goodness and quality contained in each Willowberry product.
Everything we put into our skincare is there for a reason. We don’t use the latest must-have ingredient just because we think it will sell more and nor do we put in any ‘filler’ just for the sake of maximising product size. We have thought long and hard about what your skin needs with age and tailored our products accordingly.
Here we take a closer look at three of Willowberry’s hero ingredients – rosehip, chia seed and vitamin E - examining why they make the grade and what they bring to the party.
These three core ingredients are found across the Willowberry Nutrient Boost Range: Cleansing Balm, Day Cream and Face Oil, and also in our Sensitive Face Oil.
Rosehip
Rosehips are the fruit of the rose plant. Looking like tiny red apples or crab apples, they are the seed pods that appear after the rose itself has faded. Packed with vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, these small fruits bring huge benefits to the skin.
Our rosehip seed oil is the pressed oil harvested from the hips of wild rose bushes. This oil has been used for centuries in skincare for its hydrating, moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties. Safe for all skin types, it is prized for its healing, making it suitable even for sensitive skin.
Rosehip oil contains vitamins including A and C: vitamin A helps with cell regeneration, kickstarting the production of collagen and elastin and boosting moisture levels and elasticity. Vitamin C is known for its brightening effect and gives dull skin a lift. In addition, essential fatty acids in the oil keep skin balanced, hydrated and healthy.
Benefits: Easily absorbed into the skin, rosehip oil firms, smooths and moisturises.
Chia Seed
Loaded with nutrients, those tiny black chia seeds that are delicious sprinkled over yoghurt and baked into muffins also do great things for your face. An ancient superfood staple of the Aztec and Mayan cultures, the seeds come from the salvia hispanica plant, a relation of mint. In our products we use unrefined chia seed oil to retain maximum nutrients from the plant source.
This super-rich source of Omegas 3 and 6 works to defend skin’s precious barrier by helping protect against dirt and pollution while keeping in moisture and plumping up the skin. Chia seeds are also anti-inflammatory meaning they are kind to breakout-prone skin, calming and reducing redness. Our chia seed oil keeps skin supple so is especially good for more mature skins.
Benefits: Soothes inflammation, brings radiance, adds glow.
Vitamin E
The vitamin E used in the Willowberry range comes from wheatgerm and is 100% natural. It is also referred to as tocopherol, which is the form of vitamin E that is safe for cosmetic use. Occurring naturally in the body, Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant which protects skin by fighting those pesky free radicals that try their best to damage cells. Free radicals are caused by environmental aggressors such as pollution, dirt, toxins and sun exposure (always remember to wear SPF during the day). Vitamin E calms and soothes irritation, and its healing properties are such that it can even help improve the appearance of scars.
Benefits: Protects the outer layer of the skin from damage while soothing and moisturising.
